“What Touched My Soul 08” Photography Competition
The “Spirit Of Soul Festival” ’is proud to introduce its very first, of what will be an annual event in Sydney - A community event that has been organised to raise funds and awareness for Mental Illness. We believe “The Spirit Of Soul Festival” will help to erase the stigma that is so often attached to those suffering from various mental illnesses such as Schizophrenia, Bi Polar, Depression and Borderline Personality Disorder. A three-day comprehensive ‘live’ soul music festival “Spirit Of Soul Festival” that will host its main event at The Factory Theatre in Enmore 18- 20 JAN 2008, including acts: CODA, The Bamboos, Mahalia Barnes feat Jimmy Barnes, Foreign Heights and much more.

“What Touched My Soul” Photography Competition, promoting contemporary photography and excellence in all forms of still photo-based artwork, including all types of analogue and digital photography and will be aiming to give talented amateur and non- professional photographers an opportunity to exhibit their work to a wider audience during the “Spirit Of Soul Festival”, as well as using ‘creative’ advocacy for Mental Health issues.
The charity chosen for the showcase is ROOMIES ARTSPACE, creating awareness for ROOMIES ARTSPACE - A community non-profit studio, boarding house residents and artists with mental illness or disabilities and also will raise funds by donating the entry fee of the participants.
CALLING FOR ENTRIES FROM THE 10TH NOVEMBER 2007, PHOTOGRAPHERS ARE INVITED TO INTERPRET THE COMPLEXITIES OF CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY AND THE EVERYDAY EFFECTS OF MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES. |
