Some of Sydney’s hottest emerging and established musicians are taking over the Seymour Centre’s Sound Lounge every Thursday with the launch of Thursdays at the Sound Lounge from July this year.

The Thursdays at the Sound Lounge series aims to get audiences up close and personal with artists across a wide range of genres in a setting focused on the musicians and their work, giving audiences more music and less hype.

“We want audiences to come to the Sound Lounge on Thursdays looking for raw creativity, freshness and experimentation”, says Seymour Centre General Manager Julie Mullins. “One Thursday night the audience will get edgy young pop artists, another night country, rock or singer/songwriters. But every Thursday they’ll see musicians getting back to the basics and doing what they do best without filters or distractions.”

The Thursdays at the Sound Lounge program kicks off on Thursday, July 5 with POWWOW, which will spend the first Thursday of each month launching innovative new music releases from Australia's finest emerging artists spanning creative rock, folk, indie, electro and pop. The lineup for the launch includes School of Two, Barrage & Underlapper.

The program expands from August, when singer/songwriter and country nights will also be launched, filling the rest of each month with a range of exciting new musicians and music – and some of the more established legends as well.

Thursdays at the Sound Lounge isn’t just for music fans – it’s also an opportunity for agents and industry professionals to see up and coming and established artists in an intimate and accessible environment. “Thursdays at the Sound Lounge is all about musicians making it their own”, says Mullins. “We’re looking for a crowd of like-minded musicians, industry professionals and tuned-in punters with a variety of tastes and a willingness to push the boundaries.”
