The “Fall for days” website is a classic no nonsense solo musician's website with links to new releases, previous Cds (with free Mp3 downloads), video footage, info about the artist and an email contact. It's pretty basic but the simple layout makes it a fast and easy web portal for the artist (in this case Graeme Rhodes, aka “Fall for days”) wanting to sell his wares and promote his image online. The ‘NEW CD' link takes you to his label's website where you can sample tracks on his latest release and if you like what you hear buy the CD using their simple PayPal set up.
Graeme's plastered a funky photographic self-portrait on the homepage and his yellow/purple goggle-faced image with a rye smile invites you in to his delicious world of brooding and groove driven music, simply described as living somewhere between the chill-out room and the dance-floor. Edgy guitars ride on massive attack style ambient grooves while haunted synths supply an Eno-esque depth. Luxurious vocals emerge from the mix like a combination of Lee Marvin and Richard Butler waking up in a Vincent Price movie . The music remains the all-important factor here. Graeme's decided on a website rather than a simpler Blog web presence and in his case it's not trying to be too flashy, just a character builder for the independent muso. ****
